Fried calamari rings recipe

Calamari rings are great starters for all sea-food lovers. Calamari, also called squids, are our school-day octopuses. Every time Amma cleans it, my sister and I would take its head to experiment with the tentacles like an octopus. They are also called Kadamba and Kanava.
It is an easy and crispy starter that’s served in most restaurants. Here’s how to make a fried calamari rings recipe easily at home…
FRIED CALAMARI RINGS | GRILLED CALAMARI RINGS RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS
Squid – ½ Kg
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Buttermilk – ½ cup
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp
Rice Flour – 2 tbsp
Cornflour – 1 tbsp
Breadcrumbs – ¼ cup (Optional)
Salt as per taste
Oil – to fry as required
HOW TO COOK CALAMARI RINGS:
- Clean the squid and cut it into thin slices. Soak the cut pieces in butter milk for 15-20 mts and keep them in the fridge.
- Now remove the squid rings and add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Rub it on all slices and allow it to marinate for 15-20 minutes in the fridge.
- Heat the oil in a pan.
- On a plate, mix corn flour, rice flour, a little salt and bread crumbs. Now, take the marinated squid rings and coat them with the breading mixture for crispiness.
- Fry the squid rings carefully in the heated oil. Cook until the squid rings turn golden brown. Drain the squid rings on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve it hot with tomato ketchup or barbecued Mayonnaise.
NOTES
- If you love to add any seasonings, add it to the breading mixture.
- Grilled Calamari would be a great recipe for barbeque nights. Just grill the marinated calamari on a hot barbeque and grill for 3-4 minutes until it’s fully cooked. Smoky grilled calamari without much oil are ready to eat! 😊
