Garam masala recipe is an aromatic blend of traditional spices that’s ground into masala powder to enhance the flavor of any cuisine. They are rich in flavors and powerful enough to spice up any dishes.

Freshly ground ginger garlic paste along with biryani masala powder and a little garam masala recipe enhances the flavor of any dum biryani recipe. Sprinkle it on brewing tea for a cup of hot masala chai! Authentic garam masala recipe can be made easily at home and stays longer.

GARAM MASALA INGREDIENTS:

Coriander Seeds – ½ cup
Cumin – ¼ cup
Black Pepper – ¼ cup
Fennel – 2 tbsp
Cloves – 1 tbsp
Mace – 4 pieces
Marathi Moggu – 4 pieces
Green Cardamom – 10
Black Cardamom – 3
Cinnamon – 2 inch stick – 4
Star Anise – 4
Nutmeg – 1 (small)
Bay Leaves – 6
Kalpasi – 1 tsp

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE GARAM MASALA RECIPE:
  • Dry roast all ingredients either separately or altogether in low flame. Allow it cool for sometimes and then powder it in a blender.
NOTES
  • I do not add red chilly to the garam masala recipe as I use it in most of my dishes.
  • The above given quantities last for 4 months for 2 people.
