Do companion plants really help?
Certainly! They do really help.
It’s just like putting old wine in new bottles. Companion plants known for ages are trending now. They are grown to enrich and benefit the other plant besides helping them to deter pests. Sometimes, they help for the growth by attracting insects that are beneficial to them.
Growing them among other plants will get the best out of available space. Unlike magnets, some plants attract insects and some repel. I mostly rely on the below companion plants. They helped me to keep my garden free from the preying eyes of pests.
Garlic / Onions: They are compatible with almost all varieties of tomato plants and spinach. They are the best to ward-off grass hoppers as they’re the biggest threat to my plants.
Marigolds / Cosmos / Chrysanthemum: They are easy to grow. Inter-plant them among most other plants throughout the garden. They deter pests like mealy bugs, aphids, and grass hoppers. They also attract pollinators.
Chrysanthemum that’s spread across the cabbage plant has saved it from worms.
